Headstrong: 52 Women Who Changed Science - and the World

Rachel Swaby

Though women have been leaders in science for centuries, they are not always recognized in through our historical records and schoolbooks, or in our popular culture.

Seeking to change that awareness, journalist Rachel Swaby recently published a new book, Headstrong: 52 Women Who Changed Science - and the World.

Rachel Swaby will tell the story of her work on this book, and will highlight some of the stories it contains. Headstrong features a variety of women who have won Nobel Prizes or otherwise have been major innovators over the last several centuries, some well-known, others not, but all of whose work has significantly influenced our lives. Learn more about these pioneers, and how the ideas of each developed from their first moment of scientific engagement through the research and discovery for which they're best known.

Those attending may bring their copies of Headstrong to be signed by the author after the program, if desired.
