Learn Biohacking skills - Protein Purification Class

Protein expression and purification should be foundational skills in any Biohacker's repertoire. 

In this class we will perform and learn about heat and chemical precipitated protein purification of Taq polymerase, an enzyme well known for its use in PCR. We will then run SDS PAGE gels and learn how analyze them for protein purity. For times sake, the proteins will be expressed in E. coli beforehand though methods on how to express the protein will be discussed. 

Each participant will receive a strain of E. coli to take home for their own Taq expression and will be able to keep whatever enzyme they purify! 

This is considered a moderate to advanced class as many basic principles will not be discussed. Must have basic molecular biology skills.
