Special LASER at Stanford: Dada Celebration
This will be a special LASER: a centennial celebration of the Dada movement, a 3-hour event featuring an extravagant cast of scholars, artists and musicians: futurist composer Luciano Chessa, accidental philosopher Jonathon Keats, cellist and composer Theresa Wong, Pavle Levi (Director of Stanford's CREEES), Avantgarde historian Cosana Eram, ... a performance by Stanford CCRMA, Howard Rheingold & Fabrice Florin's "Pataphysical Slot Machine", Perrin Meyer's "The Silent Urinal", Kal Spelletich's kinetic sculptures, Man Ray's short film "Return to Reason"... and even a live interference from Zurich's Cabaret Voltaire by Swiss art historian Boris Magrini.
Format: No slide presentations. Only one laptop projecting images and clues to the performers. Free-form conversations with the audience before and/or after each item on the schedule (Q/A). The speakers speak while sitting among the audience. No talk longer than 10 minutes. A very fragmented evening.
