Hacking the Hackathon: A Panel in Partnership with Cal Hacks
Hackathons have become increasingly popular among students at the collegiate, and sometimes high school, level. Running on 24-hour schedules, hackathons are non-stop marathons of technology, innovation, and tons of fun. Students from around the country gather at these events to devise, develop, and design the next great product and are judged by experts in the field. They have also become central to the career development of many computer scientists and graphic designers. For many recruiters, they are a great chance to scout out creativity and talent, and for many students, they are a gateway into the Silicon Valley. Join the Berkeley Forum and Cal Hacks as we host "Hacking the Hackathon", a panel discussion on the growing importance of hackathons.
Speakers include:
Armando Fox: Professor, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department, UC Berkeley
Steven Leckart: Journalist, documentary filmmaker, correspondent at Wired Magazine
Evan Stites-Clayton: Co-founder of Teespring
Rodney Folz: Founding member of Hackers@Berkeley
Canzhi Ye: Director of Cal Hacks 2.0
Eva Zheng: Director of Community Development at Hacker Fund
