90's Nightlife
Everybody loves a good throwback, and this week, NightLife takes a trip to the '90s to celebrate the cinema science behind the decade's most popular films.
From Jurassic Park to Volcano and Encino Man to The Matrix, chat with Bay Area experts as they highlight (or debunk) the real-world science at play in iconic films.
Meet the Academy's Chief of Science Dr. Shannon Bennett as she discusses mosquito-borne infectious diseases and how research has advanced since Outbreak's 1995 debut. Academy curatorial assistant Sue Pemberton will share seal skulls from the Academy's marine mammal collection while talking about the '90s classic Andre.
Dust off your favorite scrunchies and flannel shirts and get nostalgic while flipping through vintage zines and chatting about this '90s literary phenomenon with UC Berkeley neuroscientist Christine Liu. Plus, make your very own slap bracelet craft with the help of Julia Jane Moore.
