The Ten Commandments for Effective Software Technology Management

Executive management for software and services is different from that for hardware. There are specific challenges for innovating in software systems, recognizing talent, pushing the state-of-the-art, getting board/executive support, configuration management, beating down bugs, customer acceptance, and other areas.  Karen will tell us about some of her own opportunities and the "commandments" or guidelines that executive management (and department managers) should consider. She will focus on her high-tech management experience at United Technologies and at Synopsys, discussing software/tools management, research/education, women in tech management, and other topics of current interest.
