Learn about the cormorants of Lake Merritt!

Come learn how the Lake Merritt colonies have changed over the years, view the current colony of Double-crested Cormorants who now use the area, and find out what it is like to be a citizen scientist!

For over 20 years, the San Francisco Bay Bird Observatory (SFBBO) has studied colonial waterbirds that like to nest at Oakland's Lake Merritt. SFBBO is a nonprofit in Milpitas with the mission to conserve birds and their habitats through science and outreach. For more than 30 years, SFBBO biologists and citizen science volunteers have conducted research on colonial waterbirds that nest in rookeries around the Bay Area.

Free and open to bird enthusiasts of all ages! $20 suggested donation.
