Public Astronomy Talk: 'Mesoamerican Astronomy'

Current knowledge about the ancient Mesoamerican astronomers will be presented in particular, some of the methods employed in the creation and storage of knowledge about position of stars and planets, techniques used in the construction of astronomical observatories, and sites of astronomical significance will be described. The talk will end with the information about stargazing in Mesoamerica which is currently done by Indigenous communities.

Free Public Stargazing Night at the Montgomery Hill Observatory:

Enjoy a free public stargazing session at the Montgomery Hill Observatory of Evergreen Valley College from 8:30 pm to 10 pm. It will be a three Planet night with a waxing gibbous Moon. Jupiter, Mars and Saturn should be visible by 10:15 PM, with the Moon rising at 10:45 PM. The Planets Mars and Saturn with the star Antares "The Heart of Scorpius" will make a nice upside down triangle. View Jupiter with its moons.

Free parking in the parking lot #6 for this event.
