Sand Dunes of San Bruno Mountain

Take a guided hike through the ancient inland sand dunes on the western end of San Bruno Mountain. The remnant dunes are host to unique flora, including the endangered San Francisco Lessingia, which will be in full bloom. Following the hike, attendees will help protect the SF Lessingia by removing patches of invasive ice plant that are overtaking it. Our guide will be Ariel Cherbowsky, the Stewardship Coordinator at San Bruno Mountain Watch. Ariel cultivated a passion for ecological restoration during his studies at UC Berkeley as a steward of Strawberry Creek and its watershed. He has led restoration events in coastal San Mateo County at Mori Point, Milagra Ridge, and Rancho Corral de Tierra with the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy.

Street parking is available, and overflow parking is also available in a gravel and dirt road next to the Hilldale School's entrance sign. Bring lunch or a snack, water, sunscreen, and a hat.
