The Lost Ships of the Farallones
Meet the Indiana Jones of the sea, and join marine archeologist, James Delgado as he takes us on a tour of some of the most amazing shipwrecks discovered over the last three years by NOAA. Just outside the Golden Gate, the Greater Farallones National Marine Sanctuary, hosts an undersea museum featuring some 400 shipwrecks and is a haven for marine life. Jim's presentation will highlight the discovery of the clipper ship Noonday, the steamers Selja and Ituna, and the recently found USS Conestoga. The discovery of the Conestoga solved a 95-year old mystery of what happened to this navy tug that set sail for Hawaii from Mare Island with 56 men, and never heard from again, sparking a massive search that ended in failure.
