Lichens are Awesome and Oaks are Majestic!

On this hike you'll slow down to explore the world of lichens, a small life form that is a partnership of a fungus and an alga and shows up in many places, colors and shapes. Participants will also gaze up as they walk through groves of oak trees and examine the colors and shapes of leaves, trunks and branches. At vista points they'll take in sweeping views of Solano County, the Carquinez Strait, and Mt. Diablo. Guests are encouraged to take advantage of this special opportunity if they can because Rockville Trails Preserve is otherwise closed. Five to seven miles. Free. Space is limited.
