Learn to Photograph Plants and Gardens

Whether your goal is to record a plant or a landscape in the wild or in a garden, a few basic principles of the horticultural photographer's trade will help you create photographs that are more useful as well as beautiful. The topics covered will be how to make the best use of natural light, framing and composing your photographs to take advantage of the forms and colors of a plant or landscape, and the basics of styling a plant or garden in preparation for a photograph. The talk will be illustrated with both published and teaching images.

The instructor is David Goldberg, an award-winning plant and garden photographer and instructor in the UC Berkeley Extension Landscape Horticulture Department.

The fee for Garden members is $40, for nonmembers $30. You can register at the door, on the website of the Botanical Garden, by calling 510-664-9841, or by sending an email to gardenprograms@berkeley.edu.
