Cosmic Microwave Background

We live in a golden age of cosmology, the study of how the universe started and evolved. Since 1998, scientists have developed a detailed universe model that contains two mystery ingredients: dark matter and dark energy. These two make nearly all the energy in the universe. Learn how the microwave background â€" the leftover glow from the early hot universe â€" influences the current model of cosmology, as well as how it is measured using very sensitive detectors and telescopes. These measurements may offer insight into the origin of the universe and dark energy.
