Amgen Biotech Experience Workshop: Teacher Professional Development: Abridged ABE Series

This event is open to all Bay Area high school science teachers interested in teaching the Amgen Biotech Experience curriculum (amgenbiotechexperience.com). The curriculum includes basic biotechnology laboratories and techniques through the lens of learning about diabetes and the manufacturing of insulin through recombinant technology. This workshop focuses on the abridged series of labs, approximately two weeks in length, that includes pipetting, plasmid digestion, gel electrophoresis, and bacterial transformation. Teachers who complete the training are eligible to check out the equipment needed to do the labs with their students, and receive all consumables required, free of charge.
