Protecting California's Water: The Bay Delta Water Quality Control Plan
Did you know that many of us get our water from the Tuolumne River? As the Tuolumne River Trust's Policy Director, Peter Drekmeier will share with us how this river fits into the Bay Delta, and how we can have a healthy Bay-Delta ecosystem and a thriving economy. Peter Drekmeier co-founded Bay Area Action (BAA) in 1990 and ten years later helped establish Acterra through the merger of BAA with the Peninsula Conservation Center Foundation. He has led efforts to protect old growth forests and native wildlife habitats, assist statewide environmental campaigns, and improve river conditions on the Tuolumne. As council member and mayor of Palo Alto, he helped build the city's reputation as one of the nation's most sustainable cities. Peter was Acterra's 2016 honoree for Party for the Planet. The Bay-Delta Water Quality Control Plan establishes control measures to protect beneficial uses of water in the Bay-Delta Watershed.
