Narrow Band Astrophotography from Almaden Observatory
Rob will give an overview on building the Almaden Observatory in order to provide the audience with an appreciation of the project’s scale. This will include a discussion of classical narrowband imagery and how one composes an image using elemental spectral lines instead of broader color channels. Finally, Rob will discuss his Narrowband 4 Stars project where he is attempting to take color images in an urban area by using filters to reduce the impact of even broadband sources of light pollution.
According to Rob, this talk will be different from an earlier version presented to SJAA and should be more generally interesting to PAS attendees. Robert J. Hawley is a subject matter expert on narrow band imaging, software, and eclipse photography.  He is a past president of SJAA and a current PAS member, as well as a long-time amateur astronomer and inventor.
