Brain & Body Nightlife

Join NightLife for an on-going event series that explores the brain and body with mind-expanding talks, cutting edge demos, and yoga sessions around the museum.

All workshops presented by Yoga Tree and Yoga Works.

  • In African Hall, join Wonderfest for a night of brainy talks by experts from UCSF: Dr. Elissa Epel on obesity and the brain, and Dr. Howard Fields on the brain’s ability to create “a virtual mind-body experience.”

  •  Treat your mind and body to yoga sessions around the museum with Yoga Tree and Yoga Works instructors. Roll out your mat and take a class in the following places:

-----> Inhale/Exhale in the Philippine Coral Reef
-----> Downward Dog to a live DJ set by DJ HyFi in the Piazza
-----> Hold a Child's pose under the stars for a very special class on our Living Roof                           (weather permitting)

  • What do your thoughts look and sound like? Slip on an EEG reader customized by Colin Harrington, a lucid dreamer, who created the “Beyond Sonification” installation in response to his unique sleep cycle. Using a modified commercial EEG reader, his project transforms his dreamsâ€"or anybody’s thoughts and emotionsâ€"into soundscapes and imagery.

*Please note some yoga classes will require passes that will be distributed on a first come first served basis outside on the front concourse. Please bring your own mat.
