Hard Earth Talk: Steam Engine - Making Geothermal Work Economically

Unlike wind and solar projects, which produce electricity only at certain times, geothermal wells can produce power all the time. Today, geothermal is a negligible energy source, representing a tiny fraction of 1% of U.S. electricity generation. A big problem is cost: Geothermal is too expensive. Tim Latimer’s startup, Fervo Energy, aims to apply innovations from another subterranean energy source -- oil and gas -- to slash the cost of geothermal energy. Inside the uphill slog to make clean energy from underground work.
