Students, what’s your passion? Diversity and equality? Safety and poverty? The Tech and The DFarm are partnering to offer a unique design challenge for students in Grades 7-12 to tackle a real-world issue related to world peace. In an unprecedented time of tension and partisanship, the design thinking process, with its focus on empathy and understanding multiple points of view, can be a valuable approach to problem-solving.

DesignDaze participants will select an area of interest and work in teams to explore solutions using design thinking: understanding and empathizing with users; defining the need and describing the attributes of a good solution; brainstorming and filtering multiple ideas; and creating prototypes. Teams will be guided by design ninjas and expert mentors from Stanford, IDEO and other members of DFarm’s professional network, and they’ll craft a two-minute pitch to a panel who will select a set of winners and awards.
