Controlling Electromagnetic Field for Energy Applications: From Radiative Cooling to Wireless Power Transfer

Electromagnetic fields represent one of the most fundamental aspects of nature. The ability to control electromagnetic field has broad implication for a wide range of technologies. In this talk, we review our recent efforts in using the capability for controlling electromagnetic fields for energy applications. In particular, we discuss our progresses in achieving passive radiative cooling under direct sunlight. We also show that novel electromagnetic physics can be used to enable robust dynamic wireless charging.
