Reading the Landscape
Clues to habitat history are all around us: in the bends of branches, the distribution and size of trees and shrubs; the size and shape of lichen on the rocks; the color of soil; and the location and size of bunchgrasses. And sometimes, if you use careful observation, and apply some logic, you’ll discover an old homestead, a Native campsite, an old stagecoach route and when it was built and abandoned, or when the last wildfire burned a place. Join ACR Education Specialist Dave Self and start learning how to read the landscape of the Modini Mayacamas.
