Short Film Screening and Q&A: Background to Breakthrough

The Science Communication Lab and iBiology invite you to a special screening of “Background to Breakthrough”, a series of short films exploring how the identities, culture, and backgrounds of scientists fuel their ingenuity and approaches to problem solving.

We will be showing three short videos (4-7 minutes long each) featuring Dr. Esteban Burchard, a physician and professor at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), and his research on the genetic and environmental factors of asthma health disparities. The screening will be followed by a 30-minute Q&A with Dr. Burchard and film producers Dr. Mónica Feliú-Mójer and Nina Griffin.
