Lab and Lunch: Rising - Dispatches from the New American Shore

We live in a time of unprecedented hurricanes and catastrophic weather events, when it’s increasingly clear that climate change is neither imagined nor distant, and that rising seas are irreversibly transforming our coastlines.

Join us for a lunchtime talk, where Elizabeth Rush, author of Rising: Dispatches from the New American Shore, will share voices from some of the places undergoing dramatic change: a Staten Islander who lost her father during Hurricane Sandy, the remaining holdouts of a Native American community on the drowning Isle de Jean Charles, and artists and ecologists along the shores of San Francisco Bay. Rising is a meditation on vulnerable communities, and on how to let go of the places we love.
