Mi Viaje a la Ciencia (My Trip to Science)

El Dr. Saúl Villeda, quien es profesor de la Universidad de California en San Francisco (UCSF). Dr. Villeda compartira como fue su crianza en el sur de California, siendo hijo de inmigrantes guatemaltecos, hasta convertirse en un investigador científico. En su laboratorio, él investiga si es posible revertir los efectos del envejecimiento, utilizando una técnica quirúrgica que conecta ratones jóvenes con ratones viejos, preguntándose: ¿Hay algo en la sangre joven que pueda revertir el envejecimiento? ¿Hay algo en la sangre vieja que pueda promover el envejecimiento? Los partipantes aprenderán tambien sobre las investigaciones del Dr. Villeda a través de ejercicios prácticos que serán dirigidos por voluntarios de UCSF. Esta presentación será en español.

Dr. Saul Villeda, who is a professor at the University of California at San Francisco (UCSF). Dr. Villeda will share how he was raised in Southern California, being the son of Guatemalan immigrants, until he became a scientific researcher. In his laboratory, he investigates whether it is possible to reverse the effects of aging, using a surgical technique that connects young mice with old mice, asking: Is there anything in young blood that can reverse aging? Is there something in the old blood that can promote aging? Participants will also learn about Dr. Villeda's research through hands-on exercises that will be led by UCSF volunteers.
