Splitting growth and geometry to test ΛCDM

In my talk I plan to discuss some work in progress I've been doing in the context of DES, which we call a growth-geometry split analysis. The goal of the analysis is to perform a consistency test of LCDM by comparing constraints from large scale structure growth and expansion history. This test is inspired by modified gravity models, which can mimic the expansion history predicted by LCDM but fairly generically change the relationship between expansion and the evolution of structure. To put my analysis into context, I'll give a general introduction to cosmological tests modified gravity and will describe some of the considerations that go into efforts to test extensions to the standard cosmological model using DES data.
