Directional Dark Matter Detection: Advantages and Challenges

Most dark matter detectors hope to measure the energy deposited to an atom by dark matter interactions.  Directional detectors are capable of measuring the momentum of the recoiling nucleus as well.  This additional information can be used for particle discrimination, background rejection, confirmation of WIMP discovery, and even WIMP astronomy.  This talk will explore the field of directional dark matter detection to describe the advantages and difficulties of this search.
