From California to Cambodia - Surface Water Mapping Using Cloud-Based Remote Sensing
- With cloud based remote sensing we can now access, process, and analyze terabytes of satellite imagery remotely via the internet.Â
- Satellite images and streamgages are the two most common measurement tools used to assemble a record of historical surface water changes.Â
- Weekly to monthly snapshots of surface water from satellite images can identify the extent of discrete flooding events.Â
- These maps, along with climate records, enable us to better understand how precipitation events contribute to the timing, location, and extent of flooding and drought.
