Two talks at Hopkins Marine Station

Economic Impacts of Environmental Shocks in Small-Scale Fisheries

Dr. Villaseñor-Derbez studies coupled human-ocean systems. He draws from his training in oceanography, ecology, and environmental economics and combines geo-spatial, econometric, and machine learning methods to study how humans and the marine environment respond to policy and environmental change.

Innovative, Interdisciplinary Tools to Study Marine Animals in Our Changing Ocean

Dr. Pagniello is a Postdoctoral Fellow at Stanford University's Hopkins Marine Station. Her research interests lie at the intersection of technology, data science, and oceanography. Specifically, she is interested in the development and use of novel, innovative and non-lethal instrumentation as well as applying physics- and statistical-based techniques to study animal communication and movement in our changing ocean.
