Birdy Hour: The Avian Microbiome - Rethinking Bird Ecology from the Inside Out - Livestream

During this birdy hour, Amy will explore a new perspective on bird ecology: the microbiome. She'll discuss what we currently know about the microbial communities that live in and on birds, and how these microbes may influence health and development. Focusing on our local population of California gulls, Amy will share results from her Master's thesis comparing the microbiomes of gulls nesting at Mono Lake and San Francisco Bay, and consider what these patterns might tell us about gulls living in different environments.
