Film and Discussion: Giants Rising

Enjoy a free screening in the Oak Room at the Main Library of the acclaimed 2024 film Giants Rising, presented by Sempervirens Fund and the Citizens Climate Lobby of San Mateo.

Journey into America’s redwood forests and explore the secrets, superpowers and saga of the tallest and some of the oldest living beings on Earth. Living links to the past, redwoods hold powers that may shape our future, including their ability to withstand fire, capture carbon, and offer clues about longevity. Through the lenses of science, culture, art and human health, discover the promise of solutions that will help us all rise up to face the challenges that lay ahead. A live panel discussion following the film will include speakers from Sempervirens Fund and Citizens Climate Lobby, discussing how their work impacts our redwood forests and opportunities to get involved locally.
