Spooky Science: Let’s Do the Monster Mash - Livestream
Ghost stories and monster sightings have long been an important way for humans to deal with their fears of the unknown. Often these tales come from situations where folklore stepped in to explain science that people didn’t understand yet. Nowhere did this play out quite as spectacularly as in eighteenth century Serbia, where a misunderstanding of disease spread and natural post-mortem changes gave life to the vampire as we know it today.
Join guest host Kenny Biddle on Thursday, October 30, at 7:00 p.m. ET for a Skeptical Inquirer Presents livestream with Meagan Ankney and Paige Miller, hosts of the Spooky Science Sisters podcast. Their new book, Spooky Science: Dissecting the Mysteries of Ghosts, Cryptids, Aliens, and Other Oddities, explores the science behind ghostly apparitions, legendary cryptids, and spine-chilling haunted places. Just in time for Halloween, Ankney and Miller will discuss famous mash-ups of monstrous folklore filling in for modern science with a focus on everyone’s favorite bloodsuckers.
