Partial Lunar Eclipse Watch Party
Join Chabot astronomers for a live watch party of the Partial Lunar Eclipse, as the Moon drifts through Earth’s shadow and puts on a slow, spectacular transformation.
Viewing will begin indoors in Studio 3 with real-time commentary and a live stream of the beginning stages of the eclipse, which won’t be visible from California until later. As the Moon rises higher and visibility improves, we’ll transition out to Chabot’s Observation Deck for outdoor viewing under the night sky.
The Moon rises already in eclipse, with first good visibility around 8:15 pm, then builds toward its dramatic peak at 9:13 pm, when the shadow is at its deepest. After that, the Moon gradually re-emerges, revealing more of its bright surface as the night goes on.
Bring your friends and family, grab a lawn chair, and settle in for a relaxed night under the sky??"part science, part spectacle, all lunar magic.
