Birdy Hour: The Many Hats of Honey Bees - Livestream

In their hives, out in the fields, and all around the world, honey bees, Apis mellifera, play a multitude of roles: honey maker, nurse, guard, forager, navigator, dancer, communicator, pollinator and ambassador. In this talk, you will learn more about these roles and some of the remarkable abilities honey bees possess that enable this work. As globally important pollinators, the recent decline in honey bee populations in the U.S. raises concerns; I will also discuss the threats to honey bees and other pollinators, the need for pollinator conservation, and what you can do to help.
