Breaking Trail: Mountains to Molecules to Motherhood

Climbing the world's highest mountains is an excellent model for achieving other extremely demanding objectives. Dr. Arlene Blum will share photos and stories from her scientific and policy work protecting our health and environment from toxins in consumer products, as well as from her expeditions among the world's highest and most dangerous mountains. In the 1970's, Blum's work led to removing cancer-causing chemicals from children's sleepwear and ultimately brought science into regulatory decisions, stopping the unnecessary use of hundreds of millions of pounds of toxic chemicals. Dr. Blum's current challenge is bringing scientists, industry, government, and non-profits together to create a healthier, safer environment.

Co-Sponsored by Lafayette Library and Learning Center Foundation and California Section and WCC of the American Chemical Society.  RSVP (required) to the Lafayette Library and Learning Center at (925) 283-6513 x.101
