Emerging Trend in Engaging Engineering Tools to Biological Research
New discoveries in molecular biology, genetic engineering and experimental tools that were developed over the past 60 years have revolutionized the study of "omic" technologies. Living organisms can be studied and classified based on genome, transcriptome, proteome and metabolome. Metabolomics enables scientists to investigate the relationship between an organism's genotype and phenotype as well as environmental response at a physiological and functional level. This presentation outlines advances in "omic" technologies that have impacted biomedical research, and describes a non-targeted approach for investigating the response of the yeast metabolome to different types of environmental stress by liquid chromatograph and mass spectrometer (LC/MS).
