'An Introduction to Astrophotography'

We all are here because of our love for astronomy.  Many of us have thought about putting a camera at the end of a telescope and taking a pretty picture, but what does it take? Astrophotography is a marriage between science and art. You can count photons of stars, time occultations, video record planetary rotations, measure the spectra of meteor fireballs, watch the waxing and waning of supernovae or just make pretty pictures.  But it demands precision, time and most importantly patience. This presentation will give an overview of astrophotography and give the audience an idea of the rigors and joys that is involved with the hobby. Images by club members and other friends will be displayed.

Stuart Forman is a long-time member of the Mt. Diablo Astronomical Society.  In 2010, he started doing astronomy imaging after picking up a used refractor.  He has been involved with on-line astronomy outreach with virtual star parties and video streaming astronomy education.  Stuart Forman’s day-job is being a physician at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center.
