Free Bay Currents talk: How Rivers and Lakes Work
Through droughts and floods, rivers and lakes are California’s life blood, sustaining both wild nature and our huge economy. These ever-changing water bodies are shaped by the interplay of chemistry, geology, hydrology, and biology. Why, for example, can many plants and animals live in either lakes or streams but not both?
Join us for a lucid and entertaining talk with Dr. Vincent Resh, Professor in UC Berkeley’s Department of Environmental Science, Policy, and Management. Dr. Resh has taught at UC Berkeley since 1975, in a career that has ranged from restoring Strawberry Creek on the Berkeley campus to working with international agencies on West African river blindness and studying effects of Chinese dams in Southeast Asia.
Bay Currents talks on Bay Area nature and environmental issues are free, but seating is limited. Refreshments 7 PM, talks 7:30 PM.
