Science in Our Parks
How is climate change affecting the Bay Area's national parks? How can these changes be objectively measured? What are micro-climate models? Should future restoration efforts adjust for changing temperatures? Does the human element have a role in restoring a park's "natural" balance?
This is a sampling of questions that were posed in a recent Natural Resources & Science Symposium that attracted scientists from national parks throughout Northern California.
Volunteer Steffen Bartschat attended this symposium and will show excerpts from the conference presentations, including updates on restoration projects within the Marin Headlands and the Presidio.
One-hour presentation will be followed by an optional one-hour dusk hike to the Haypress project site in the Marin Headlands.
Meet at the Tam Valley Community Center, 203 Marin Ave., Mill Valley.
Reservations required; please call (415) 331-1540.
