A Lethal Dose of NightLife
Why is venom toxic? When is nature not your friend? How do common prescriptions become poisons? When do you not eat that pill your friend just handed you at a party?
Join Patil Armenian, MD of the California Poison Control System for Poisons, Venoms and Pills: Toxicology 101, an uninhibited interactive presentation and talk about all the various toxic substance you can ingest, inject, drink, get stung by, or be bitten with: from pills in your medicine chest to a viper in the wilderness. This talk includes shocking visuals from the Poison Control Center's vast archives of curiosities in accidental and intentional poisonings and overdoses. Not for the faint of heart!
Chip Corwin, (a.k.a.), DJ Mancub, of the world famous Space Cowboys and San Francisco's Sleevin Records, delivers a one-two punch on the decks at NightLife this week. Blowing up block party jams for over ten years, Mancub is renowned for his unique antics while DJing, including scratching while wearing boxing gloves. He certainly knows how to work a crowd! You can hear Simo and Mancub's release, "Punks of Funk" with remixes out on Sleevin records, and sample his mixes on pulseradio.net or netamp.com. Expect a TKO!
NightLife this week will also feature a special Astronomy presentation and Brad the Magician on the floor, in addition to all of the great attractions you can find here every week.
