Green Perspectives in Europe: Implications for the Americas?

As Daniel Cohn-Bendit led student uprisings in 1968 Paris, newspapers called him Danny the Red. Today, as leader in the European Parliament's green coalition Europe Écologie, he is better known as Danny the Green. His campaigns have effectively channeled public concern for the environment and garnered unexpected support in the last elections. "We have a project for Europe," Cohn-Bendit tells the New York Times, "an idea – the ecological transformation of our way of production and way of life."
