Is There a Future for Carpooling? - Livestream

In the Bay Area, carpools carry nearly as many commute trips as public transit.  As the Bay Area region struggles to meet state-mandated greenhouse gas emissions reduction goals, carpooling remains an important alternative to single-occupant vehicle travel.  Prior to the pandemic, new options emerged to match up riders and drivers, and carpooling appeared promising as a cheaper and more environmentally-friendly mode of travel. But what role does carpooling now play in a post-COVID world and how can we improve its implementation while ameliorating health and equity concerns? Join our panel of transportation experts and explore the future of carpooling.
