Permaculture in Today's Home - Self Sufficiency and Closed Loop Systems
Permaculture is an approach to creating holistic systems that feed, house, and otherwise sustain people while integrating life supporting systems into the larger ecosystem and society in a healthy and empowering way. Fundamentally permaculture looks at the whole system and integrates all home site systems together in a way that enhances life locally and globally. It is an approach to building and living that harmonizes our buildings, landscapes and selves with nature.
In this presentation our panel of speakers will outline the basic tenants of Permaculture, Self Sufficiency and Closed Loop Systems and lead a conversation as to how you can integrate these principles and practices into your designs and construction. The team will go over a site plan and outline the various ways permaculture can be integrated into a project.
Topics to be included:
- Use of greywater, rainwater catchment and drip irrigation
- Earthworks, mulch, drought tolerance, hydrozoning, food forests, backyard chickens, composting systems and garden structures
- Building siting, community and local economy creation
We encourage you to bring your questions about permaculture, self sufficiency and closed loop systems. We would like the evening to be a dynamic interactive in which everyone leaves with new and inspiring ideas that will profoundly enhance life.
