Beyond IQ: Measuring Cognitive Function
Ever wonder how your cognitive functions are measured, what those measurements mean or when someone should go to a neuropsychologist for an evaluation? Dr. Ryan McKim is a clinical neuropsychologist in private practice in San Francisco specializing in the assessment of memory and cognitive rehabilitation. Join Dr. McKim on May 11th as he discusses how cognitive assessments work, what specific brain functions can be measured and the assessments available; ranging from neuropsychological evaluations, IQ tests, to products like NeoCORTA.
Dr. McKim completed fellowships specializing in Neuropsychology and Health Psychology at the California Pacific Medical Center (CPMC) in San Francisco. He is currently involved in clinical research at the San Francisco VA Medical Center investigating neuroplasticity and developing novel cognitive rehabilitation strategies for our returning veterans who have experienced traumatic brain injuries. He is the scientific advisor for NeoCORTA, a brain fitness company and is also Adjunct Faculty at the California Institute of Integral Studies, where he teaches Neuropsychological Assessment.
Dr. McKim is a frequent speaker on cognitive health and healthy aging and teaches a Memory Fitness Program for patients at the Memory Disorders Clinic and for members of the public who want to improve their memory.
