The Coming Water Wars: Climate Change, Control and Confrontation

Dr. Moore will explore the dynamic interaction of water as a commodity, essential life substance and economic good. His talk will discuss how access to water, clean or not, will displace energy as a primary global security interest in light of increased demand, shifting supply and minimal price control. Forecasting the future is difficult and imprecise at best, so he won't. He will, however, suggest changes that must occur in the policy arena both domestically and internationally in order to preserve some capacity and flexibility in maintaining basic non-negotiable access to this fundamental substance.

Speaker: Michal Moore, Institute for Sustainable Energy, Environment and Economy, University of Calgary
