Pharmaceuticals in the Environment: What You Should Know

Unused pharmaceuticals are accumulating in the environment. The risks include increased childhood poisonings, increase theft due to drug abuse, higher concentrations in our physical environment, and improper donations internationally. Health professionals will increasingly be required to understand the consequences of excess pharmaceuticals as well as the necessary steps required to reducing the risks of pharmaceuticals accumulating. This presentation will present the evidence for this growing program as well as steps that can be taken to support better stewardship of medicine.
