Sharktoberfest
Learn all you ever wanted to about sharks – we'll have specimens from the Academy's collections, movies, experts ready to answer your questions, shark inspired art and dance pieces, a shark trivia contest, and animatronics, along with other great programming.
In our take on Octoberfest, this week's NightLife will also feature a variety of local beer brewers. Learn about how beer is brewed and participate in limited tastings. A variety of local microbrewery beers will be available for sale. Check back here for participants as the date gets closer.
We are also pleased to have a special planetarium show this week, presented in conjunction with the Buckminster Fuller Institute. In Perceiving Home: An Ecological Tour of the Cosmos, David McConville takes you on an interactive exploration of beautifully rendered Earth and space science visualizations, while Violist Christen Lien provides live musical accompaniment with her haunting ambient soundscapes. Shows are at 7:30 and 8:30, seating is limited, and show passes are available on a first-come, first-served basis on the night of the event.
