ScienceMakers feat. William A. Lester, Jr. & Robert Bragg, Jr.
The HistoryMakers, a repository of nearly 2,000 African American oral histories. We are currently in year 2 of our NSF grant entitled 'ScienceMakers: An Innovative African American Media and Educational Initiative.'
ScienceMakers seeks to encourage youth to enter S.T.E.M. disciplines by showing them prominent African American scientists who they may not have been exposed to previously. ScienceMakers' material also informs educators and community leaders about the accomplishments of African Americans in STEM fields.
We are having a reception for ScienceMakers at the Lawrence Hall of Science on Wednesday, October 13. Admittance to the event is free, and hors d'oeuvres will be served starting at 6:30 p.m.. Presentations by Dr. William A. Lester, Jr. and Dr. Robert "Pete" Bragg, Jr., both of the University of California, Berkeley will begin at 7:00. They will talk about their life histories as well as their work. An open question and answer session with the speakers will close the evening's program.
Please RSVP to (312) 674-1900 or abr@thehistorymakers.com.
