Permaculture in Today's Home - Self Sufficiency and Closed Loop Systems
Permaculture is an approach to creating holistic systems that feed, house, and otherwise sustain humans. Instead of just building separate systems with different functions, we build relationships that enhance life. In our homes, a Permaculture approach is looking at the whole system and integrating home site systems together using existing relationships in nature to maximize productivity while minimizing labor. Fundamentally, Permaculture is about harmonizing our buildings, landscapes and selves with nature.
In this presentation, the basic tenants of Permaculture, Self Sufficiency and Closed Loop Systems will be covered as well as how you can integrate these principles and practices into your designs and construction.
Topics to be included:
- Use of greywater, rainwater catchment and drip irrigation
- Earthworks, mulch, drought tolerance, hydrozoning, food forests, backyard chickens, composting systems and garden structures, cover cropping, and companion planting.
- Natural building and Permaculture economics.
We encourage you to bring your questions about Permaculture, self sufficiency and closed loop systems. The evening will be dynamic and interactive. We will do our best to make sure that every attendee leaves with inspiring and new information that can dramatically enhance the quality and sustainability of your projects.
