A History and Tour of the El Cerrito Recycling Center
The El Cerrito Recycling Center is one of the oldest municipal recycling centers on the West Coast -- and still one of the best. Early next year, the city will demolish the existing center to create an improved center that will provide more services, including environmental education. Come say goodbye to the old center and welcome the new recycling center! The E.C.ology Recycling Center, as it was originally called, began as a young man's wild idea -- and blossomed, thanks to the imagination and hard work of El Cerrito volunteers and forward-thinking city leaders. Gregg Cook has tales to tell you won't believe. Don't miss them! Meet at City Hall's council chambers, 10890 San Pablo Avenue, for a Recycling Center presentation, and a brief meeting of the Historical Society. Then join us for a tour of the center, 7501 Schmidt Lane. Refreshments will be served.
