Stewardship Saturday: Protecting Our Oceans Day and Night

Join DarkSky International’s Santa Cruz Chapter, Natural Bridges State Beach’s Interpretive Team, and The Marine Mammal Center as we explore ways to protect our beaches, oceans, and marine life during daylight and nighttime hours. Protection doesn’t stop when we close our eyes, and there is a lot we can do to help at all hours. Through this event you will get to support habitat restoration of a beach where some of The Marine Mammal Center’s patients are commonly rescued, and then explore ways to make sure we are keeping these beaches and waters safe from light pollution once night falls. We hope by the end of this event you will have a stronger understanding of the effects of invasive plants and light pollution on our coastal ecosystems, and will have some goals for next steps to take on your conservation journey.

Intended for high school students.
